The University of Maryland welcomes you to the Visitors Center at Turner Hall, a destination that offers a unique opportunity to explore, reflect and celebrate the history and culture of Southern Prince George's County, Maryland and its people. The visitor center is located in the outlet and features a curated collective of historical facts that establish SouthernPrince George's County as the gateway to Maryland's epic heritage. The collective consists of a collection of historical and cultural artifacts as well as a variety of educational and educational activities.

Bowie is home to the Bowie Baysox, the Baltimore Orioles-affiliated Major League Baseball (MLB) team. The Bay Sox moved from Hagerstown to Bowie in 1993 and began playing at Prince George's Stadium in 1994. This stadium serves as the home of the Baltimore - Maryland Blue Jays, Baltimore's major league club in the American League.

The entire route through southern Maryland was completed in 1873, and by 1963 Bowie had grown into a major city with more than 1.5 million inhabitants, the largest city in the state of Maryland. The line was finally completed at the end of the 20th century, with the opening of Bowie's first station on July 1, 1971.
